WEB Hubertus Gerardus Josephus Henricus Huub Oosterhuis (1 November 1933 - 9 April 2023) was a prolific Dutch theologian, poet, and cultural figure.
Born in Amsterdam in 1933, Oosterhuis studied theology at the University of Amsterdam. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 1960, but later renounced his priesthood in 1973 due to his disagreement with the Church's stance on various issues, including contraception and the role of women in the Church.
