Bjp Projected To Retain Power In Indias 2024 Elections

BJP projected to retain power in India's 2024 elections

Latest polls show a clear lead for the ruling party

Opposition still trails despite recent gains

NEW DELHI, Feb 8 (Reuters) - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ruling Hindu nationalist party is projected to secure a clear majority in the country's general elections, according to the latest opinion polls. The polls, conducted by various media houses and polling agencies, show the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) holding a significant lead over the Opposition INDIA bloc, which is a coalition of several political parties.

The BJP's lead has narrowed slightly in recent months, but it remains well ahead of the Opposition. The party is likely to benefit from its incumbency advantage, as well as from the popularity of Modi, who remains India's most popular politician. The Opposition, on the other hand, is still struggling to unite behind a single leader or platform, and it remains to be seen whether it can make significant gains in the upcoming elections.

The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in April-May 2024. The BJP is currently the largest party in the Lok Sabha, lower house of the Indian Parliament, with 303 seats. The Opposition INDIA bloc has 142 seats. The BJP will need to win at least 272 seats in the next elections to form a majority government.
